As part of the Brighton marathon build up, Event Manager Richard Nerurkar, himself one of GB’s marathon greats, backed by England Athletics, has invited over Italian guru Lucciano Gigliotti.

7 January 2012 Middlesex Cross Country Championships

At the not overly idyllic setting of Wormwood Scrubs playing fields. It’s the only time a cross country event requires me to drive from my vaguely leafy suburb in towards central London, but what the venue lacks in undulating pine forests it makes up for with rock buns and an excellent lemon drizzle cake.

18 December 2011 Pisa marathon

This is of course interesting timing for a marathon and is a fairly radical way of avoiding the hassle of weekend Christmas shopping.

15 October 2011 Amsterdam Marathon

This was a very nice day for being a running coach, as the texts confirming new PBs trickled through. First up was Will coming home in 2.28. He had actually been looking for a couple of minutes quicker, but will now look to make further progress in spring 2012.

7- 8 October 2011 European Athletics Association Endurance Conference at Heathrow

This was an interesting one. Firstly, it is the first time I’ve been in a conference room where the presenters are the same distance from the delegates as they are from the aeroplanes zipping past on the adjacent runway.
